FOR A NUCLEAR FREE FUTURE – IN RESPECT FOR ALL LIFE
The Interfaith Peace Walk is an annual effort led by the monks of the Bainbridge Island Nipponzan Miyohoji Buddhist Temple. This year’s walk begins in Salem, Oregon, which has the largest community of Marshall Islanders outside of the Marshall Islands. Walkers will make stop in many cities along the way, including Portland, Hanford/Richland, and Seattle.
Walkers will participate in the Hiroshima to Hope Lantern Ceremony at Seattle’s Green Lake on August 6th, and the walk will finish at Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action for the events there commemorating the anniversaries of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (from August 7th to 9th).
