8 people cited at Trident nuclear submarine base at Bangor, Washington, marking the 76th Anniversary of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Atomic Bombings
31 people were present on Monday, August 9th at a demonstration against Trident nuclear weapons at the Bangor submarine base in Silverdale, Washington. The demonstration, organized by the Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action, was at the Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor Main Gate during morning rush hour traffic. At around 7:15 AM, after “peacekeepers” entered the roadway and safely stopped traffic, eight demonstrators set themselves and their banners on the roadway blocking entry into the Main Gate. August 6th Peace Ceremony in Lake Forest Park
By Glen Milner The annual Pacific Northwest Interfaith Peace Walk started the day on Friday August 6, 2021 in Lake Forest Park for the 76th year remembrance of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan. Rev. Senji Kanaeda of the Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple on Bainbridge Island conducted a short ceremony for peace at the Peace Pole on the corner of Bothell Way NE (SR 522) and Ballinger Way NE (SR 104). Peace Fleet! 2021
BY GLEN MILNER Five Peace Fleet sailors entered Elliott Bay on August 4 around 11:45 am in one sailboat and one kayak. The weather was good on the water, sunny, about 80 degrees and with a slight breeze. For the second year in a row, no U.S. Navy warships were present, no Blue Angels or other military aircraft, and no Canadian military vessels. All boats were launched from Bell Harbor Marina near Pier 66. The Port of Seattle was accommodating for yet another year. Five people cited in Mother’s Day demonstration at Trident nuclear submarine base at Bangor, WA
30 people were present on May 8th, at the demonstration against Trident nuclear weapons at the Bangor submarine base. Five demonstrators blocked the main highway entrance into the base for over 20 minutes and were cited by the Washington State Patrol. At around 2 pm on Saturday, the five demonstrators entered the highway carrying two large banners stating, “CONGRESS WANTS $1 TRILLION FOR NUKES–What will be left for our children” and “TRIDENT THREATENS ALL LIFE ON EARTH” and blocked all incoming traffic at the Main Gate at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor.
