Pacific Northwest Peace Pagoda, a dream revived
Written by Glen Milner In August people traveled from across the U.S. and Japan to Poulsbo, Washington, to celebrate the ground purification ceremony for what will be the first peace pagoda on the West Coast by the Nipponzan Myohoji Order. The 150 attending the ceremony witnessed a living prayer for peace; with a soft breeze moving the many colorful flags, and sunlight illuminating the grass, the trees, and the opened earth for the peace pagoda. Approximately thirty nuclear disarmament activists took part in a spirited rally at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor on Saturday, May 11th in the spirit of the original antiwar message of Mothers Day, which calls for the abolition of war and mlitarism (and of course nuclear weapons). The Ground Zero Center activists were accompanied by the Seattle Peace Chorus. Resisters symbolically close Trident base ahead of Mothers Day

Silverdale, WA, May 12, 2018: Fourty-two activists were present at the Bangor Trident submarine base to celebrate the true meaning of Mothers Day for Peace and to protest nuclear weapons.
